The Power of Love

June 2008

Twelve authors coming together and providing short stories for an anthology. Twelve short stories of empowered women overcoming obstacles and finding success and love. The Power of Love is an anthology of twelve romances written by some of today's brightest stars in the romance genre showing that sometimes anything is possible, given the power of love.

The Power of Love is the newest collaboration organized NYT Bestselling Author Lori Foster. It includes Dianne Castell, with whom Lori hosts the Readers and Writers Event in Cincinnati each June. This event grows each year. In fact, over 250 people - readers, writers, industry professionals - scheduled for the 2008 event.

In addition to sharing a love of books, everyone participates in various fundraising efforts to support charities, including donated baskets. Starting in 2007, Lori has organized a book with a portion of the proceeds going to a charity. The first book was a cookbook with recipes turned in by authors and readers (myself included!). The title was The Write Ingredients and benefited the Troop Fund. The cookbook was published by Samhain Publishing.

This year, The Power of Love, from Berkley Sensation, is available and will be supporting The Battered Women's Shelter of Cincinnati. This is quite an appropriate charity, as the stories focus on women facing various forms of abuse or neglect. I had the distinct pleasure of being able to read this anthology for review. Listed below are each of the stories and the corresponding link to my review.

Sweet Dreams by Lori Foster

Unpredictable by Erin McCarthy

After Hours by Toni Blake

Last of the Red-Hot Mammas by Dianne Castell

Salesman of the Year by Karen Kelley

Dance the Fandango by Rosemary Laurey

The Girl Next Door by Janice Maynard

Chicken Soup for Annie by LuAnn McLane

No Angel by Lucy Monroe

Angel in the Alley by Patricia Sargeant

Hannah's Choice by Kay Stockham

The Mouse Who Roared by J. C. Wilder

As I feel so strongly about this book, I bought my own copy of it at the Readers and Writers Get Together. Therefore, with Lori's permission, I have made my ARC available for a prize this month (and it has been autographed by several of the authors). As long as you are a member of my Yahoo Announcement Group, you will be automatically entered to win. Certain mailing restrictions apply. Please review the Announcement Newsletter and Contest Page for further information.

Welcome

I truly enjoy sharing my love of reading. This site was started to allow me to share some of my favorite books. I hope that if you look around and find that you agree with some of my selections (see my reviews), that you will return and hopefully find new authors. I plan on having periodic "Recommended Reads" lists that will include books I recommend, as well as suggestions by visitors to this site. I will also keep you up-to-date on different upcoming events, special offers, etc.

As you look around, I'm still learning my way around HTML, etc. If you see any errors, typos, please e-mail me.

My Personal Disclaimer

Boy Meets Girl, They Fall in Love, and the two of them live Happily Ever After. This is the content for any book I believe is a true Romance Genre novel. The books that I recommend, or have reviews posted for will follow that format, unless I note otherwise. Granted we may know the outcome of a Romance Genre Novel, but it is the journey the characters take that is the reason we read these books. The Happily Ever After doesn't mean they're all vampires... Just means that the future is open to them, even if it is set 500 years in the past - we don't need to know their final chapter in life. At times I have have Recommend Reads by visitors to this site - I cannot guarantee that they meet my criteria for a Romance Genre Novel.
