Romances with Cats

July 2009

It is no secret that I am partial to cats - just look at the top of this website. The kitty in the corners is the KRC mascot, he was my Sunriser. This month, I want to share some of my favorite romances that feature cats.

First, there is Daq. He passed away this past month from cancer. However, he will live on as he was the inspiration for the "furzel" Tank in Linnea Sinclair's Games of Command. If you look at the original cover of this book, the cat that you see is actually Daq.

Maggie loves Nick. She lives with Nick, but there is a slight problem... Maggie is a cat. Luckily, she is given the chance to become human. This is actually the first story involving characters from Julie Kenner's Superhero Central series.

Caroline Burnes has had a continuing series called Fear Familiar within the Harlequin Intrigue line. Rosemary Stevens also wrote a mystery series - The Cats of Mayfair - that was Regency set.

This is the first of Dara Joy's Matrix of Destiny series. I won't ruin any surprises for someone who hasn't read the series - so I'll simply state to start this series with this book, and there is a cat.

I have it on good authority, from Lori Foster herself, that the secondary romance in Drew Black's story, from her SBC Fighter series will have a cat. Per Lori "The hero was abused and neglected, and wanted to distance himself from all that. He learned to walk away from everyone and everything - but when he found a starving kitten one night, he couldn't walk away from it. Now "Spice" is his #1 girl. LOL. Luckily, the cat takes to the heroine, and vice versa. This is for the secondary romance in the book, with Brett and Audrey. The main story is Drew and Gillian." Back in Black will be out Feb 2010.

This is the original cover of Robin D. Owens' Heart Mate, and shows kitty - which made the sale for me! It is the first book in her Heart series.

There were also several Zebra Regency Anthology romances that came out in the late 1990s / early 2000s where each story had kittens/cats. Plus, they often were set during a holiday. Some of the titles are: Enchanting Kittens, Mistletoe Kittens, and Valentine Kittens.

Finally, I love the shape-shifters. Sherrilyn Kenyon is a favorite author of mine, and Book 16 in her Dark Hunter series, Dark Side of the Moon has the heroine having to go to an animal shelter and take home a cat. Of course, there is more to the cat than meets the eye. Plus, granted they are "big cats", but there is Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series where some of the Changeling turn into various cats.

Welcome

I truly enjoy sharing my love of reading. This site was started to allow me to share some of my favorite books. I hope that if you look around and find that you agree with some of my selections (see my reviews), that you will return and hopefully find new authors. I plan on having periodic "Recommended Reads" lists that will include books I recommend, as well as suggestions by visitors to this site. I will also keep you up-to-date on different upcoming events, special offers, etc.

As you look around, I'm still learning my way around HTML, etc. If you see any errors, typos, please e-mail me.

My Personal Disclaimer

Boy Meets Girl, They Fall in Love, and the two of them live Happily Ever After. This is the content for any book I believe is a true Romance Genre novel. The books that I recommend, or have reviews posted for will follow that format, unless I note otherwise. Granted we may know the outcome of a Romance Genre Novel, but it is the journey the characters take that is the reason we read these books. The Happily Ever After doesn't mean they're all vampires... Just means that the future is open to them, even if it is set 500 years in the past - we don't need to know their final chapter in life. At times I have have Recommend Reads by visitors to this site - I cannot guarantee that they meet my criteria for a Romance Genre Novel.
