Vampire (Carpathians) Romance

Traian Trigovise was an ancient Carpathian who was hunting vampires. It appeared that the rules had changed, and multiple leaders were banding together. After being injured in battle, Traian goes to ground, and sees a vision of his lifemate. She was obviously his true lifemate, as he could suddenly see in colors. Although she disappeared just as quickly as she had appeared, he had connected with her. It was enough.

Joie Sanders was a hunter herself. She was a bodyguard who "hunted" those who threatened her employers. After being shot while protecting a senator, Joie allowed her consciousness to float away from her body. It was not unusual for her to do it, but what was unusual was finding a man who was obviously shot but was uncaring that he was laying in the dirt. Even after the encounter, she found herself holding conversations with him. Determined to prove his existence, not just a figment of her imagination, she and her brother Jubal and sister Gabrielle climb into a cave - only to find him... and vampires.

It is my opinion that this is the absolute best romantic "vampire" series that has ever been written. Ms. Feehan continually outdoes each story. Her description of Traian tracking the vampires during the first couple pages has the best descriptive imagery I have ever read. We also revisit one of my favorite characters, and Joie's siblings scream for romances of their own. I cannot recommend this series enough - however, I stress that it is best to start with Dark Prince - the first in the series. Although each story stands on it's own - why ruin your fun?
