No More Resolutions

Short Story in Home For the Holidays Anthology

By Dakota James

2012

Contemporary Romance

How did a woman who did not believe in New Year's Resolutions end up with such a horrible resolution? Oh yeah, work for a boss who demanded Andrea find her a husband in 30 days, or she was out of a job. For some people, playing matchmaker might be nice, fun even. It was more difficult when you couldn't think of any man you'd sacrifice. And your job was in the balance.

Then there was Simon. Gorgeous, unattainable, a co-worker, Simon. Simon who made irking her part of his career, and the one man she would miss. If she lost her job.

No More Resolutions was a cute little romance of two individuals who use an unexpected excuse to finally get together. However, I did find the premise of being forced to find Andrea a husband a bit odd. Perhaps Dakota James plans to address that in another short story, but other than that, I did enjoy this story.

Home For the Holidays is a short anthology with nine stories that is a mere 125 pages. We are introduced to six new authors, some of whom I hope to see in print again soon. This anthology includes: Christmas at Coventry Arcade by Becke Martin, The Holly and the Ivey by Sandy Pennington, Speaking the Language by Ann Gregory, Triple Trouble on Christmas Eve by Becke Martin, Merry and Bight by Ann Gregory, Silver and Gold by Becke Martin, The Last Christmas Visit by Stacy McKitrick, Time's Holiday by Jennette Marie Powell, and No More Resolutions by Dakota James
