Safe from Harm

Protect and Serve Series - Book 2

By Kate SeRine

Sourcebooks Casablanca - October 2016

Contemporary Romance

Elle McCoy had outgrown her infatuation with Gabe Dawson years ago. It didn't matter who he dated. She didn't care how many women he dated. What he did, or didn't do, was not her business, except when it was her business. As a prosecuting attorney, she had to work with the deputy in an official capacity, but she never expected that he would have to risk his life to save hers.

Gabe knew he placed his life on the line each day he went to work. It was a risk he was willing to accept for his family, friends, and community. He'd always had an eye on Elle. In school, he'd always had a fondness for her and helped her when he could. Lately, he wanted more, but Elle thwarted him at every turn. But when her life was at risk, nothing would keep Gabe from stepping forward and insinuating himself into her life.

Safe from Harm is another sexy, fun, romantic adventure in Kate SeRine's Protect and Serve series. Elle had been brushing off Gabe's advances for a long time, and it was entertaining to see Gabe finally break through her defenses. Gabe was also at times tentative in the relationship. After being rebuffed for so long and hearing Elle's opinions of him, it could be difficult to truly believe her feelings had changed. I enjoyed watching Gabe with his family, and how they worked together against the threat. I did have a difficult time accepting Elle's poor decision that put everyone at risk, but otherwise, I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to seeing the last brother, Tom's, story.
