Archangel's Kiss

Guild Hunter - Book 4

By Nalini Singh

Berkley Sensation - February 2010

Urban Fantasy Romance

This review assumes that the reader has read Angels' Blood in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series, and does contain spoilers to that prior book.

It had been a year since the great battle. One year since Elena had fallen in love with an archangel, Raphael. She had been injured - and awaken a year later. Changed. Now an angel. No longer mortal, but still a human woman with a human heart, and a human mind.

She was no man's, or archangel's property.

After being in a coma for a year, she needs to regain her strength. Retrain her muscles. She also now has wings, and she has to learn how to use them. This can take time, but time is not a luxury they have.

There are enemies surrounding them. Someone has been attacked. Someone else abducted. Is it the enemy they suspect, or someone else? Events are unfolding that cannot be stopped. The only certainty that Elena has is her love for Raphael, that she is a hunter, and that the enemy will strike, and soon.

Archangel's Kiss is a riveting addition to Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series. Watching Elena learning to adapt to her new wings was fascinating. I loved that Elena has maintained her independence when interacting with Raphael, Archangel of New York. A being certain of his power, and used to gaining whatever he wants - and as we learned in Angels' Blood - he wants Elena. Still, we see the chink in his armor when it comes to Elena. The suspense continued from beginning to end, and will make readers eager for more. I devoured this story, and hated to reach the conclusion. I look forward to revisiting this world, and learning more about the various characters.
