Archangel's Enigma

Guild Hunter - Book 12

By Nalini Singh

Berkley Sensation - September 2015

Urban Fantasy Romance

This review assumes that the reader has read the previous books in Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series, and does contain spoilers to those books. Due to the complex world building and continuing storylines, it is recommended to read this series in order.

Naasir was one of a kind. Truly unique, and as such, had his own way of thinking, and doing things. He was ferally devoted to his family, those special individuals who accepted him as he was, and he needed to be close to them. However the time had come for him to find his mate. He'd seen his friends Janvier and Ashwini recently, finally, bond with one another, share secret games with one another, and he wanted to do the same with his own mate.

If only she'd come out of hiding.

But his sire wanted him to go on another mission. Raphael knew Naasir was ready to claim his mate, but luckily this assignment would send him back to the Refuge. Naasir was happy to go there, the city already felt too restrictive, and he had more family there he could visit.

Raphael believed that their enemy was possibly attempting to kill an Ancient in Sleep. This was an unbelievable taboo, but Lijuan had a nasty habit of breaking all taboos. Naasir had exceptional skills, unique to what he was, and he was to ask for the scholar's help in using her knowledge to find, wake, and warn the Ancient. And Andromeda, the scholar, was a woman. Naasir had his hopes up, (a possible mate!), until he learned the truth.

Andromeda had taken a vow of celibacy.

His mate would never be so stupid.

Archangel's Enigma was everything I wanted Naasir's story to be. Naasir's history is revealed, he finds a mate who is a match to his passion and wildness, and there is more development to the overriding story arc, as well as new suspense regarding what may be yet to come. I adored everything about Naasir, from his singular thought process to his relentless determination to find his hidden mate, and finally his stubborn naming of a certain book. Exceptional from cover to cover.
