Tangle Of Need

Psy-Changeling Series - Book 14

By Nalini Singh

Berkley Sensation - May 2012

Paranormal Romance

This review assumes that the reader has read the previous stories in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series, and does contain spoilers to prior books. Also, due to back stories in previous books, I highly suggest reading the series in order.

Adira Morgan had already endured a relationship with a man who could not accept her dominance. Been there, did that, and she was not going to allow any man to mistreat her again. She had earned the rank of senior soldier, and would never again allow that to happen. There were few men who she considered dominant enough to be in a relationship with. Riaz Delgado was one. A fellow SnowDancer, and a lietenant. But also a man who had the ability to shatter her at the most fundamental level.

Riaz had already met his mate. He had known it the moment he saw her. That instinctual recognition that all changelings want. But he also knew he could never have her. She was a human who was already happily married. He may be a lone wolf, one who thrived on solitude, but now he could not even contemplate having a relationship with any other woman. It would be a betrayal.

But he found himself drawn to Adira. Over. And over. Maybe he couldn't have his mate, and a relationship with Adira could never match that. Maybe, instead, it could be more.

Tangle of Need is a romance between two people who allow their passion for one another to heal their souls. We had seen Adira with her ex, had seen how his snide comments had struck deep. We had also seen when Riaz had revealed how he had found, and lost his mate. These were two characters who desperately needed their own happily ever afters, and with Tangle of Need, they find it together. Without revealing any spoilers, I have to add that Nalini always intersperses the storyline with scenes with other characters, and in Tangle of Need, these scenes were the best yet. Now knowing what is revealed in those scenes, I am even more eager to see what happens next.
