Short Story in The Power of Love Anthology

By J. C. Wilder

Berkley Sensation - June 2008

Contemporary Romance

Twelve authors coming together and providing short stories for an anthology. Twelve short stories of empowered women overcoming obstacles and finding success and love. The Power of Love is an anthology of twelve romances written by some of today's brightest stars in the romance genre showing that sometimes anything is possible, given the power of love.

It appeared to Amy's boss, Eve, that Amy was everything mouse, from her behavior, to her hair, to her clothing. Heck, even her last name was Mouse. When Amy overhears Eve discussing her so thoughtlessly, she makes a completely un-mouse like decision.

Amy finally admits to herself that she is in a dead-end job, has a boss who doesn't respect her employees, and decides to realize her dreams. The physical makeover would be the easy part. Starting her own business a bit harder. But finally facing the man that she fantasizes about, and approaching Jack O'Reilly, would be the hardest step to take.

The Mouse Who Roared was a pleasurable read of a woman standing up for herself. It is so easy to simply keep things status quo, and that is where Amy was. Everyone has their snapping point, and Eve managed to be the trigger for Amy. It was so enjoyable watching as Amy realized her dream to start a new career, and decided to follow her heart.

Included in The Power of Love are: Sweet Dreams by Lori Foster, Unpredictable by Erin McCarthy, After Hours by Toni Blake, Last of the Red-Hot Mammas by Dianne Castell, Salesman of the Year by Karen Kelley, Dance the Fandango by Rosemary Laurey, The Girl Next Door by Janice Maynard, Chicken Soup for Annie by LuAnn McLane, No Angel by Lucy Monroe, Angel in the Alley by Patricia Sargeant, Hannah's Choice by Kay Stockham and The Mouse Who Roared by J. C. Wilder.
